The 2011 Amadio Wines Portsea Pro Am was conducted successfully on Jan 2nd. The crowd was up on the previous few years, thanks to the good weather on the day. All participants spoke highly of their experience and the wonderful time that they had. Celebrities were a big hit on the day as was Craig Parry, and with the lady professionals in the field were a great attraction.
Of course without sponsors the event would not happen, thanks to all of the sponsors who supported the Amadio Wines Portsea Pro Am. Equally important to the success of the event is the work put in by staff and volunteers throughout the year in preparation for the day. There are too many to name but they all know who they are and should feel pleased with the outcome. Visitors to the course on the day had a great time as evidenced by enquiries through the golf shop and subsequent green fee bookings.
Official caddies were involved on the day at the request of Amadio Wines. Coming from our junior ranks, they were coordinated by the club's junior liaison officer and all reports indicate that a great time was had by all.
Last, but not least, thanks must go to the members who annually give up the course for a day and a half and play on a shortened first hole (actually enjoyed by some).
